Will Traffic to Forums Grow Organically?1050

I created this forum for a reason.

The forum is a labor love for me. But I am learning ... a lot.

Among other things, I wanted to know if forums could attract organic visits?

Is direct trafficbold text = people coming here because they know how to get here the only way to get new people?

Or is referral traffic = people coming because someone said, "Hey, go there!" the only way to get new people?

Can people find a forum organically? And will organic traffic grow?

I have an answer to that question now.

Let's go back 4 months and see the number of new organic visitors to this content marketing forum ... by the month.

Yup... definitely heading in the right direction.

The percentage of growth is slowing ... to be expected. But the number of new users coming each month is growing ... to be hoped for.

But there is another source of new traffic that is out pacing organic growth ... at least for now.

Any guesses?

I am quite interested in this topic. I have a forum set up. Nothing there yet. Another direction to stretch myself.

There is another forum in my space and is 4 years old. Has 380 members registered and 9400 posts in 8800 threads.

I believe the number of members ought to be much higher than it is. I believe I have an opportunity in this space.

But when it comes to forums, I don't know what questions to ask.
Can I ask people to come to an empty forum?
Do I go find questions other people have asked and "prime the pump"

My guess is your traffic may be coming from LinkedIn as you have spent much time there. Other possibility is it is coming from your blog.

How many guesses before you spill the beans?

I will share. No problem. The point of this thread, however, is to answer the question now can/will a forum grow organically?

And the answer is, "Yes."

LinkedIn is a very small source of new members.

I will address that in another thread.

Oh, I know you will share. Just having a little fun.

Then I'm stumped. Unless you are referring to physical presence from your meetups...

How you plan to get your forum off the ground?

How do plan to get people onto a forum when nobody is there?

What's your strategy?

I answered 2 more questions:

Challenges to Getting 1st 5,000 Users to a Forum

How long does it take to get the 1st 5,000 people to visit your forum?

How did those 1st 5,000 people find the forum?

That is the million dollar question. There are thousands of forums out there and it's a matter of learning how they started.
