Content Marketer's Chinese Opp - Tourists1089

Belew private msg quote post Address this user
Uber in China is a great opportunity for a content marketer.

(I am speaking in China again in November...hence the Chinese stuff.)

Are you still looking for a niche?

How about the Chinese tourist?

In 2014, more than 100 million Chinese traveled abroad.

That's a great niche. There are niches inside of that niche.

The number of Chinese tourists is expected to swell to 174 million by 2020.

There are only 7 countries in the world with more people than that!

It's a great place to start your content marketing efforts.

But @belew wouldn't you have to write in Chinese? What if you can only write in English? How does that work?

@mcc Pay for a good Chinese editor/transliterator. You could also find a sweet spot fixing Chinese to English media, which is notoriously bad.

@Belew I would LOVE to pay your graphics guy (son?) to make some illustrations for me.

@mcc

Not necessarily... most tourists are traveling in English ... or their country of destination.

It doesn't hurt to do things in Chinese if you can.

I created a site in Chinese that is hosted in China just to find out how hard/easy it was.

BillBelew.cn

I haven't done much with it yet.

I am in need of some good, current, information (numbers) on a variety of things Chinese -- tourism (where is your 100 million number from?) -- transportation (sea cargo, air passenger & cargo), etc.

What would you suggest as current, accurate, sources?

I have several other Chinese news outlets and what not that I am subscribed to.

Don't want to overwhelm you but I can pass them on if needed/wanted.

In the spirit of Frank Abagnale, overwhelm me if you can. I can filter. Thank you!

In the coming days ... as I get stuff in my email box that I have subscribed to follow, I will forward them on. That'll be easier than digging back thru my email folders.

Hi everyone! I just joined and when I read this thread I was so excited.

Yesterday I published the tenth book in the Astro's Adventures series. I created the books for children aged 8 and up. The tenth book is called Waking the Dragon and it was inspired by a local Chinese festival. The book entails the characters (dogs) going from Australia to China on a fun and zany adventure. I hoped to encourage a cross cultural interest as children learn about other countries but how do I promote the book in China? It is currently available as an ebook and I'm waiting to get a proof of the print book back from the publishers soon.

Is this something you can assist me with?

Thank you!

@SusanDay

Assist you with?

What can we/I do for you?

Do you have a website for your book series?

Is there somewhere we can take a look?

Welcome to the forum!

Thank you so much!

My books are at http://www.astrosadventures.net but the Waking the Dragon page isn't completed yet. You'll be able to see my other books though and get a feel for what I create.

I also have blogs. My author blog is about children's literature and I offer free writing activities.

I am also blogging a book abput creating a children's book at little or no cost.

These will give you an idea how much work I put into my books and children's literature.

Thank you again,
Susan

What is it you are hoping to learn here?

More eyeballs on your books? More sales?

Something else?

@SusanDay Hey Susan glad to have you here and getting to know you better. We're a great bunch of people here; we're teachers, experts, well intentioned hacks, conversationalists, listeners conventionists, and disruptors.

Lol ...
I'd like to market / sell my books in China and learn about content marketing.

After reading your description of the types of people here I think I'll fit in nicely.

@SusanDay welcome ... I'm the quiet one that sits in the corner doing his own thing, that you are never quite sure about but who you have to watch because of that feeling you just can't put your finger on ...
