Simple Ways to Get LinkedIn Connections1177

Member bdaoust private msg quote post Address this user
I hope many of you made the webinar today on LinkedIn, if not be sure to get the recording from @Belew.

I passed the slide deck and all my notes to Bill, so you will see this at some point over the next day or two as well.

I know I talked a great deal about the profile and maybe spent a little too much time here because time was so short but without a robust profile that is tuned to your target audience, the connections really go nowhere. Bill and Sunil's program are a great way to get targeted and then come back and finish off the profile ideas that were presented.

I used toplinked.com as part of building my LinkedIn base. It was well worth the small investment to get a jump on connections.

There are many ways to get those connections and the unpaid version is to join a LION group.

What have you been using to build your connections?

@bdaoust (rhymes with yahoo!) @Belew @Sunil

I watched the presentation today. Great job, all. Lots to digest and put into action. I have not been using LinkedIn much; this is a real motivator. Thank you.

Count on me to report in.

I'd like to know which toplinked you bought in to to get the initial 4-5000 surge.

@Belew I started with the free list of people to invite

Here is a general way to upload any connection lists, including your own email list of people (whom you know). This is also true of the free version in http://toplinked.com

If you run out of the number of invitations allowed, you can request a change of limit so you can invite more people.

1) Click here to go to the "Add Connections" page

-click on the "Any Email" box
-under "More ways to connect" click the "Upload contacts file" link
-click the "Browse" or "Choose File" button
-select the first file you just downloaded
-click the "Upload File" button

If you receive an error message while uploading the Invite Me List, your upload was in fact most likely successful - simply check your Imported Contacts (http://www.linkedin.com/otherContacts) and send connection invitations from there.

2) Review the list and un-select everyone who you do not know and/or with whom you do not wish to connect, then click the "Invite selected contacts" button (it may take several minutes for the file to be processed).

I am going to time stamp my current LinkedIn followers here... so that I can come back in a week, in a month, in 3 months, 6 months and a year to compare.

Anybody else?

I wasn't quite clear - the instruction I gave were for your LinkedIn account not toplinked.

They offer spreadsheets of names each week to add to your list of invitees

In toplinked you should find items such as these:

If 30K is the top number of 1st degree connections, how come this guy has 39K?

After seeing this one, I looked around and found others.

Maybe reach out to him/her and ask him/her how they did it?

@Belew

I did reach out to a couple of people that went over the limit and they explained they did it before there was a cut off. Will still try and prod them a bit more to see where we can take it.

Did you know that LinkedIn has added SlideShare to the Interests tab?

Have you used SlideShare in the past?

@bdaoust

I participated in a research lab at LinkedIn not long ago.

Going to the long-form publishers shindig tomorrow is another opportunity.

I will try to find the right person to answer the right questions.

Re: slideshare. <Sigh> ... too many options and this is another good one.

In the end, however, it lives on LinkedIn = doesn't belong to me.

Create stuff that you can keep on your site and brings people to you... not to them and maybe to you.

Have you checked your Analytics to see how many profile visits you are getting at LI compared to how many visits you get from LI? It will be quite educational.
