How many tweets before reaching spam levels?1208

Steve, Bill and other serious Tweeters ,

I am using the Evergreen Tweeter plugin to push copies of posts to twitter. The default calendar is one tweet per hour from 8 am to 9 pm PST.

How often do you guys Tweet before folks start to complain?

Any experience you could share would be appreciated.

@dmortaz

This will come across as a bit harsh. Please hang in there with me.

That is a really stupid question.

It is the equivalent of asking, "How bad can I be before people get mad at me?"

Let's ask instead, "What will please my followers most?"

How many articles do you have to retweet? How many followers do you have?

Lets not send the same dozen or 100 articles to the same 100 people over and over again.

The deeper the archive of content and the more followers you have, the more often you can tweet.

How many articles do you have? How many followers do you have?

@Belew ...

I tweet much, much more than most and what I do is monitor my numbers, when setting the number of tweets. If I tweet to much and you can, you'll see an increase in people unfollowing you, you then scale back until the figure is acceptable to you.

Different audiences have different tolerances, as does the content you tweet ... your own content or other peoples, it all has an impact.

Tolerance threshold... too many birds Tweeting too often will find other trees to sing in.

Hi Bill,

152 followers and more than 890 posts to be tweeted every 30 minutes. I had it set up to 1 tweet per hour before increasing it to every 30 minutes.

What do you think?

Ironically, sending tweets from Content Curation sites gets followers too, but that's manual effort since I don't have subscription with TheNeeds.com or Scoop.it at this point.

that's 50 times a day to 150 ppl.

What are you doing to grow your number of followers?

Are you working crowdfireapp, too?

Crikey, I send out much more - 287 per day at 5 min intervals via Hootsuite. Each one of those 287 tweets is different though. I have over 15 books published.

I have just tipped over 19k followers.

I also use Roundteam to retweet other authors I'm in a group with. I guess I got sick of my twitter profile being full of other people's tweets so I asked some friends to help me set up a natty excel doc where I can change the date each day and bulk upload the tweets. It works a treat and I do get lots of engagements.

@SusanDay

How do you measure engagements? From Twitter analytics?

I noticed a recent drop off in my engagement ... an indication I may be tweeting too much.

I haven't noticed a big drop off but thanks for pointing that out. I'll certainly keep my eye out now.
