How Many Ways Can You Procrastinate?1296

Forum Owner Belew private msg quote post Address this user
I have been putting something off for some time now. Mostly with good reason ... or so I tell myself.

Creating this new thread is yet another way of procrastinating I think. But I tell myself, I am doing good.

How many ways can you procrastinate?

Go to the kitchen to make some tea.
Check email.
Go back to the kitchen to get a drink of tea.
Check my social networks.
Go back to the kitchen to get a drink of tea.
Check the sports scores from last night.
Go back to the kitchen to get a drink of tea.
Read the tabs I opened up.
Go back to the kitchen to get a drink of tea.
Um... get rid of some of the tea I have been drinking.
Wash breakfast dishes.
Go back to the kitchen to get a drink of tea.
Sweep the yard. I NEVER ever do this.
Go back to the kitchen to get a drink of tea.
Compose a thread and pretend I am starting a discussion that is meaningful and will teach others to NOT be like me.
Go back to the kitchen to get a drink of tea.

Enough already ... I'll do it. I'll do it.

Just as soon as I go back to the kitchen to get a drink of tea.
And make another pit stop.

How many ways can you procrastinate?

Metaphorical numbers, @Bill. Neither absolutes nor averages. You knew that.

Recent studies by NumberCruncher found that 37% of the 26% of the population who do at least 63% of the required work assigned by bosses who are on average 54 or older will when they do 10 b4 12 get 86% better results than those in the 18-25 age group who were born in the latter 3rd of the lunar cycle when rain averages have dropped below the annual 2.3" required to sustain growth at a 72% year on year pace.

How Do I Procrastinate
(with aplologies to Elizabeth Barrett Browning)

How do I procrastinate? Let me count the ways.
I procrastinate before, during, and after
While rolling on the floor in joyous laughter
At the list of procrastinations @Belew says.
I procrastinate to the depth of every day's
Darkest hour, each month on moonless nights.
I procrastinate easily and without much fight.
I Procrastinate in sunshine or a drifting haze.
I procrastinate with books that I should read
And with all those others I have yet to buy.
I procrastinate in each task and every deed
The things I should do but never take or try
Putting off things in my life that I might need
Procrastinating even when it's time to die.

You never run out of ways to postpone the uncomfortable... for as long as possible. I read something, somewhere about how procrastination is a coping mechanism. I will get the link to this...sometime later.

I'm doing it right now. I need to clean the house. It is one of the most futile jobs in this world. I'm 69 years old, my husband helps a lot, but do you have any idea how often I've cleaned a doggone house in 69 years?

Putting off cleaning the house is not procrastination. That's good practice.

There are other more productive things to do than clean a house ... like make your business work for you so you can hire someone to clean the house, while you are cruising and your business is making money. 8-)
