Ways to generate new content from forums1345

KitK private msg quote post Address this user
I have been finding ways to generate ideas for new content aside from @Belew 's suggestion to expand on previous blog posts.

1. Go to a forum specialized in your niche. If you find questions you cannot answer through your blog post, create a post for that question.

2. Ask a question. Post the most helpful answers.

3. Find posts that have content worthy... er... content. What I mean to say is threads that you can expand on. PM the tread starter or the expert in the discussion to ask to repurpose their content. You can also ask them question to help you expand the topic.

Erm, that's all I have been doing now.

I keep track of my ideas for topics by creating a new post, add the title, save as draft. I just click on drafts if I want to work on past ideas.

How do you find more ways to generate content?

@KitK I manage my ideas with Evernote app. I need the time to execute on my ideas.

@KitK

It took me an my admin a long time, but we went back in time to access ALL the forum threads here - more than 1400 - and but them in an excel spread sheet so they could be searched by content topic and ranked by popularity or age.

Most forums will allow you to go back only 500 threads or 6 months.

Would something like this excel spread sheet be worth having do you think?

That kind of excel spread sheet will definitely be worth having!

I generate content by brain storming. Also by visiting other blogs and looking at their posts. I might try similar topics or try different angle. Also read their comments. People may have questions, or something they write may spark an idea.

I also have Google alert on word or words related to my subject. That's a great way to generate ideas.

Google alerts are a never ending source of content.

Put the people you follow in a Google alert and every time their name pops up, you'll get ideas, too.

I have created an excel spread sheet of all the threads that have been created to date in this forum - 1400+

It is not searchable, can be sorted by topic and popularity.

I wonder if it'd be interesting to users here of the forum....

One if the best places to get ideas is to go someplace you haven't been or don't usually go.

If you want to think smth different go place somewhere different.

Where's the last place you were at that you got a really good and unexpected idea?

Great ideas.
I've got to set some time aside for blogging. Maybe first thing in the morning or at the end of the day. Any suggestions for how to structure blogging time?

@Cynthia

Everybody has a different rhythm. You need to find what works for you.

Instead of trying to do too much, just focus on doing something.

Then you can expand on that.

Hi Bill @Belew

In response to your question .... I think your spreadsheet would be very interesting to see. Might we?

FYI you can search for text or numbers in spreadsheets.

Best Regards
