How Do You Decide Who You Can Coach1490

Member jycmba private msg quote post Address this user
Over the years I've been approached by different people who want my help. Derek Sivers says to say 'yes' until your calendar is full. After he says to only accept the "hell yeah"

What is your criteria for deciding whether someone is coach-able? or for that matter they're a client that you can really help?

Do they have money to pay for my time might be as good a place as any to start.

@Belew - y, that's another reason why money helps bring clarity..

But most times this is really a question when the person says "I can't afford to.. because of.."

or "can I get a discount because.."

@jycmba

Money speaks to commitment also.

I once asked a student to write me a check for $1000. I told her I would give her a reasonable assignment and instructions on how to complete it. If she did what I told her I'd give her the money back

She did and I did.

Is the mentee willing to have skin in the came, demonstrate commitment in a tangible way? This is important.

How do you decide?
