Where do you go for advice?1746

Forum Owner Belew private msg quote post Address this user
This group has deep experience and I dare say 100s of years of compiled wisdom.

How long have we been at it X how many of us there are here = a LOT.

Where do you go for advice?
What people/books/resources do you lean on regularly?

Wise old Solomon said, "Get all the advice you can, and you will succeed; without it you will fail."

I am confident I didn't get enough counsel in my days.

I'd like to change that and I will start here.

I have something (I'll explain in a follow up thread) coming up and I'd like to get the advice of this group on how to make the most of the opportunity.

Got advice?

I mentioned in the opening of this thread that I am looking for advice on something.

From May 1 - 11 I will be on a cruise ... alone. What this means is I will have abt 10 full days of near complete interruption.

I have to speak 5-6 times for abt 45 mins each time. The rest of the complete 9 days are my own. No one to meet. No internet! No phone calls. Just me and however I want to spend my time.

If you had 9 full days without interruption, how would you spend them? And what would you hope would be the outcome?

What would you do with the time? Read, write, chill, eat, exercise, sleep?

I have 9 days and I am looking for best ideas to maximize this experience.

Got advice?

Eat their best foods. Drink their best wines (in moderation). Spend about 30 minutes each with as many people as you can. Get contact information for the ones that click. Your 9 days will repay you many times over going forward.

30 mins each day with as many people as I can and get the info when it clicks => great tip.

Don't go to the food line, eat in the restaurants and the "planned" seating for meals. You get into better conversations that way. If you can go to all the talks - another place to find people interested in more than food.

Exercise is good, the gym will provide you with more people to meet. And, of course, the excursions. Here is where you find more interesting people.

Reflect on your current plans, serendipity may kick in! And most of all - HAVE FUN!

@bdaoust

That's great cruising advice - avoid the buffets, sit with people, attend the talks and shows, and head to the gym.

Reflection is good ... how do you/I spur on that reflection?

For me, I sit and write - I get to work out a lot of issues that way

I would stare out to sea a lot and find my creative muse. Then I'd write / draw and talk to as many "new" friends as I could. I always learn a lot from meeting others.

@SusanDay

You are the 2nd to tell me to take the time to meet others. I wouldn't have thought of that.

I'd have gone into a shell and hoped for enlightenment.

Hmmmm....

Well, thank you for asking...
I am a writer, an artist and I am also a storyteller. What do you do? 😆

@SusanDay

I am a chief, a cook and a bottle washer.

I don't know how to say what I do.

I wear too many hats.

And if I say I do content marketing I get a "Huh?" In reply.
