first to market means first to break the barriers of audience resistance. I prefer to be right behind those thrashing around to find the right market....yes, more creative int he approach and really fine tuning the original material.

I'll certainly jump in if I get a chance to be among the first. Being a pioneer has it's advantages; even if you're not going to be among the best in the long run, your efforts will always be a reference point. Those who come later will likely have better work, but the competition might well choke off some of them...

Early adopters sometimes pay a price but they do get bragging rights.

First is MOST important. When you are first, you occupy the sole position in the customers mind. Have you ever Fed Exed something? Gonna Roller-Blading? Used a Kleenex? These are all brand names that own a position in our minds because they were first. Pepsi will NEVER over-take Coke even folks find Pepsi to be sweeter. Remember the Pepsi challenge? Coke was first Coke will always win.

@Chuanfit

Magnavox was first in the game consoles. Ninteno and xBox followed later. How'd that work out?

Blackberry got into smart phones before Apple and Google. How'd that work out?

What, you don't think Odyssey was a great success? And Blackberry set the standard. Without them we'd probably still be using "bricks".
