Hello,
I am pleased to have received this invitation for two reasons..
1. To broaden the reach of my writing and website.
2. To learn from others!

Let the games begin!

Interesting. Who would have thought there was such a thing?

You, I suppose.

Then again, I did work for a group in Australia whose market was rail travelers.

Is that similar to your target audience?

Rail Tube sprang from Steam Tube (now just a Facebook page..that grew from 0 to 1564 members, with an eventual library of over 500 blogs, 32k photos and 7k videos.
Trouble was, no-one wanted to pay a membership fee, and it got just a little too much for the joint owners.
Google ads gave a very small income, but not enough to make the site pay for itself.
We have a banner sponsor...
And Rail Tube gets around 20k hits per week (1 million a year!!)
..although today's stats are even better than average..4,571 as of this minute.
Rail Tube has a regular Indian railways correspondent..an accomplished journalist and author..and just this week, a Chinese blogger joined forces with us..

If only we could make it pay....!!

So, the target audience for Rail Tube is...anyone interested in railway news..past, present ...and future!

I know a LOT of ppl who'd kill (overstatement but you get the idea) for 1,000,000 views yearly.

Well done!

Congrats on being int'l. China and India are big for rail.

Be sure to get smb from Japan, too! Another big rail country. (I lived there for nearly 20 years).

What's your end game? Why are you doing this?

The idea was to stake a place in railway journalism and news..
I have a couple of books in progress at present too...

The end game ,as you so succinctly put it, is to try and earn from my endeavours! Although it started as something of a hobby..you know, see If I could do it....So I have , over the past 7 years (started our sites in January 2009) been able to build up a good number of professional railway writers..and railway industry people as contacts.

I suppose I am hoping, that even at my age (68 on Friday!)someone may even want to offer me money!!

Thanks for the Japanese suggestion....

Happy almost birthday!

Winston Churchill was nobody till after he was 60.

Same for the Colonel ... after 60.

It's never too late.

Kudos to you for being in the game.

What's your biggest challenge? What hurdle would you like to overcome?

Sorry for the many questions.... and I may disappear in a bit ... school run for my little one.

Biggest hurdle..?
Coping with a disabled wife..and recently having lost father -in-law(95)...an 88yrs old mother -in-law...These are considerable challenges...
But I would like to find a publisher.Having said that, my Indian correspondent wants to produce a joint effort..(we already have the idea...!)..and he has a follow up deal on his first book..
So, who knows!!

Welcome to the group. I'm an old railroad/model railroad buff. Haven't touched the subject in about a dozen years. I'll have to check out your website.

I'm an old dude who made a right turn as I was turning 60 and took on a new approach in my business. I'm about to turn 65 and another right turn is in process. I figure if I can last long enough to do this twice more I'll right back on my original path!

Further to why I am doing this..
Over the years I have tired of seeing so much critical coverage of any news event. I want to be able to present the news, not views..

@shedmaster

News not views. Does that still happen?

It is sometimes difficult to tell the difference between news masquerading as views, and vice versa!

@shedmaster

It seems that every news report is now an editorial of some sort.
