Twitter Effect on Site Traffic - Case Study2193

Forum Owner Belew private msg quote post Address this user
One of my clients who is chasing his 2nd round of funding on a much larger scale (he'll get it) asked me to put together a simple report on the growth to his site.

Here's a screen shot that's part of the report of the past 8 months worth of pounding on Twitter for them compared to the previous 8 months.

Aren't you curious as to how we got these results?

Direct traffic is UP -

When more people find your site, they come back more often - directly.

Google organic traffic is UP -

More social signals equals better organic traffic.

Twitter Engagement is WAY UP -

We can grow their following because we have content to auto tweet out.

Mobile Facebook traffic is UP -

We can automate this.

LinkedIn Engagement is UP -

We can automate this as well.

How's your website doing?

Bill:

So you specialize in SEO and generating traffic for site owners, correct?

@DansCartoons

Not my specialty ... but I know how to do this ... have done it for a long time.

Which begs the question - what is my specialty? Being old ... playing with my little girl. I do that well.

A slow and steady rise in numbers seems to be the key to real success. I feel too many people want a quick growth.

These figures are a great reflection of what you have taught me, and so many others. @Belew

I am always sceptical of numbers, especially when someone is using them to prove a point -- unless they show their work! :o)

My daughter informs me that 87.3% of all statistics are made up!

That said, I think there are differences in social media when it comes to numbers:

I have a facebook group with over 13,000 members. It's for sharing information among members so it works well. (one-to-many)

I have another facebook group with 64 members. It's for one-to-one or one-to-few (ie: personal networking) so it works well.

Reverse the numbers or the purpose and not so much.

I see Twitter as a one-to-many mass outreach tool (and sometimes a personal message tool) so the bigger the number the greater the reach.

And he is a master of getting people to believe him -- even if he's has honest as my daughter's comment on statistics!

It really hits home for me. I am beginning a new project for Baby Boomers who want to connect with their grandkids using books - the paper ones! @DansCartoons
