When Pick Me Ups Come Unexpectedly2667

I was feeling quite funky this morning. Nothing I could put my finger on.

Indeed I was feeling funkier than usual.

When I logged in to prepare for a weekly message (I preach at a local church part-time. Long story for another day) ... of course, I checked my email. Who doesn't? Right? Right?!

There were 2 emails from 2 completely different directions.

One was from a very sharp fellow - half my age, 1/3rd my age maybe? Inviting me to collaborate with him and another fellow - who by all appearances is much sharper than I. Not difficult, I know, considering how low a bar I set. Still very exciting stuff.

The other email was from PassionTalks. PassionTalks is a Ted Talk like event for people who integrate their faith and their work. Passion Talks is in its 4th year and last year was hosted at Google HQ. Yeah, that Google. I have been accepted as a speaker for this event. Woohoo!

2 pick me ups ... unexpected, yet very timely and quite needed.

Well, that's exciting stuff. Congrats.

I still work via a job board where clients leave reviews. So, the wait after a project closes and before the review posts is always a bit stressful for me. You just never know what someone is going to say. Today, a client closed a contract and took the time to write a very nice review. It is always good to hear that you got something right.

I got free access to a course on persuasive presentation.

There are 67 modules and 54 downloads!!

I got access to what and it's going to take me how long to go through this?

Oh boy! Exercises to complete, too!

And a deadline ...

Passion Talks are short talks by scholars, professionals, and intellectuals considering how their faith impacts their work and how their work impacts their faith.

For more information, go to: https://passiontalks17.wordpress.com/

By faith - Christian faith. It'd be way cool if any of the forum members in the area could attend. I'd appreciate the moral support.

Passion Talks is a Ted Talk - like event. This is the 4th one, previously hosted by Berkeley, Stanford, and Google. Each year it grows.

4 down 63 to go.

I thought I was going to take a couple of minutes per module = 67 x 3 = 201 mins = 3 hrs 21 mins.

It took my an hour plus to do the 1st 4 modules.

At this rate I'll be done by Christmas ... 2018.

Does it really take 20 hrs to teach someone how to do something that takes 15 minutes?

Volunteer Match is a tech-based solution to the problem of finding volunteers. You can look of online or in-person activities that fit your skills. Additionally, once you sign up, you'll receive emails about opportunities in your area.

AR, open source and distance learning are big topics in education right now.

Have you picked the theme for your presentation yet?

First module wasn't bad except for being so time consuming.
