I Know Something abt Reaching Big Numbers2686

Forum Owner Belew private msg quote post Address this user
I know something about reaching big numbers.

Closing in on 100K followers on Twitter.

I remember reaching my first 1,000,000 readers at my first blog.

I remember the first 1000 members at a Meetup Group.

I remember ...

But, here's the question. Do you know what happens when you reach one of these numbers?

Drum roll, plz.

nothing. nothing happens. It's just a number. Bragging rights, maybe. But who cares?

There's always a bigger number.

Even if I thought it worth 'bragging' abt doing this or that for this many people, or converting this many people ... or making this much money. It's just a number.

Numbers are not what we aim for. Though I like numbers and they help me quantify to some degree my progress or lack of.

The question then is how do I or should I measure?

How do you decide whether it was a good day or not? Without counting?

Did I educate, inspire, aid or advance? That's a good day. Financially- did I move anyone along the customer journey? Did I close a deal or land a contract? Did I complete an assignment and turn it over to the client?

adsense ads are affiliate ads that you put on your own site or blog....

@DansCartoons

Nope. Adsense ads are display ads that Google places. Google collects from ad buyers and pays me.

Affiliate ads are when I agree to place an ad that is tracked and I get paid a commission when there is a sale.

Are you asking if quantity is better than quality?

If you are then I think the answer is, yes!

It's too eay to get caught up in the numbers but if they aren't translating what's the point?

@Belew the older you get, the more you come to realize that much of this, means very little... it's the quality of our lives and the people in them, that mean much, much more.

Sitting by the sea, river... watching Dolphins play or Pelicans fish... on my own, or even better with someone special brightens my day much more.

I think modern society has an awful lot of things wrong, in that we most people live to work, and everything is geared to push us always to work harder, achieve more at work... when in reality ... well you can answer that.

@DansCartoons

I RAN adsense, NOT run. It worked great when I had a ton of traffic and the ad spend of companies was not diluted by so many blogs as it is now.
