I have a guesthouse in Nepal's Kathmandu Valley and an NGO/nonprofit agency. Our agency, Kay Garnay for Nepal, literally means 'What to do' for Nepal, bastardized from the Nepali language (ke garne).

Nepal had some horrid earthquakes where we lost over 9,000 people and millions homeless. It's my aim to promote Nepal as a tourist destination, as well as a great place to get quality handicrafts and Thangka Art paintings. Anyone who would like to support an emerging economy by just making a purchase that's at or below market price, check out our websites at http://TraditionalArtofNepal.com or http://KayGarnay.org We have a great value on a handmade cover wool blanket shipped worldwide at no additional cost and total price is $200. We are also starting our microfiber-lined, crocheted 100% woolen hat and glove sets, first set $30/2nd set $15, including shipping worldwide.

We also need volunteers to help us make our village even more amazing by doing organic farming or village beautification. Follow our work at http://kaygarnayfornepal.blogspot.com/ These are our products plus me giving out trees for our tree planting project. All the trees either make beautiful flowers or edible fruit. We gave trees to people who lost loved ones this past year.

My goal, particularly since they are hell-bent on gutting health care, I'm trying to help people from the US to come here for health care and respite. We can provide a lovely room with a view of the Himalayan foothills with spectacular views of the Himalayas on clear days for long-term stays.

There are many hospitals with an international presence. You can expect to get the same level of care as you would in the country that funds them. There is a brand new, state of the art cardiac hospital about 30 minutes from our village and a few good ones even closer. I had a bad root canal repair for under $250, which included saving the tooth next to that one. You do need to be proactive, but it's doable.

We can provide all the meals while our guests are here at the guesthouse, room heater or fan, food prepared as they like it, hot water, 24 hours of electricity and broadband WIFI. Our monthly rates are from $550 per month all inclusive-even a car each week for sightseeing in Kathmandu. I know great places to get teeth fixed, MRI or another testing, Ayurvedic and western treatments and even Shamen. All this is to provide you with a carefree lifestyle. It's great for people on a retirement income or digital nomads or even long-term volunteers. People can come from Aug. 1 to May 31 without leaving ($2 per day visa charge). Of course, they could also just stay until Mar. 31 and then come back in Nov. for 5 months in a calendar year.

Yes, Nepal is a true 3rd world, developing nation, but while you are home it's like living a rich lifestyle. The weather is pretty mild. Last year we saw snow on one patch of the nearby foothills for about 30 minutes and it was gone, so it's pretty mild compared to many other places.

Bill, thanks so much for asking. I'm enjoying the posts and topics here when I can get time to browse.
