Forum Owner Belew private msg quote post Address this user
A friend of mine turned me on to this WordPress plugin that will allow you build courses right into your WordPress site.

I haven't explored all the bells and whistles or costs yet.

LifterLMS.

No affiliate link ... but if you're gonna buy, let me know and I will definitely create one! 8-)

WooThemes has something called Sensei. The Woo company just got purchased by the owners of Wordpress. I use their themes and seem to be a good company. woothemes.com

@morrnel

WooThemes invited me to Cape Town last year - their HQ.

I didn't get to go because of the ebola thing.

I think I fell out of love with them. I was so disappointed, but it was the only option I had at the time = staying home.

You could have worn a really kewl white jump suit...

The only other I found was Moodle, too complicated...
I didn't spend.

I tend to resist spending money when I have only one option, a buy now or lose this great price or artificial digital scarcity.

@Belew

I didn't know there was ebola that far south. I'll have a boo at the plugin though!

@morrnel

Woo is good stuff. I have Sensei set up on one site and offer it to clients but I really prefer S2Member, which I currently use for all my own sites.

Sensei and S2member are similar?

@Belew, are you trying to manage the courseware or the testing process or both?

Neither.

I am just a bit interested in creating courses and having them available online without going thru a middleman.

LifterLMS looks interesting. A bit pricy at $150 - $400 but it seems to have all the features. I can't tell what the price range covers (number of sites maybe?) as I need to create an account to get in far enough to see. That would likely limit @belew's affiliate prospects.

@Rev

No worries on the affiliate thing.

I think it's number of sites that determines the price.

As well as integration with other management systems.

I've had WP Courseware for over a year now ... I might even have a copy of Sensi here too ... I tend to buy lots and use only a few ...

It's focus for me, or was ... running courses means a membership site which means promotion which means my focus changes to that ...

@Steve You mean you can't do everything?

@Belew as much as I try, I have never succeeded in that ... and when I first started in business I learned this lesson the hard way ... I used to offer web design, graphic design and everything in between ... once I cut down on the number of services I offered, people knew what I did, well and came to me.

@Steve

And now you are trying to do everything again?

Sensei runs $130 to $280 with 1, 5, and 25 site licenses in that mix. But they require additional payment(s) for add-ons that bring it pretty close to LefterLMS. Looks like they are in the ballpark -- but S2Member is still free.

@Rev Most things are worth the price if you use them.

That is the secret, using them ... I once bought a large format printer ... one of those that could print to about a yard or so wide and as long as you like... it sat in the office for years till I got rid of it ...

Lots of things like that around here...

As to focus, my focus is back... at the end of June my service offering will be refined (read as reduced) ... and I'll be going full steam ahead in my newly focused direction.
