Friday Night at the Movies - Downtime848

Forum Owner Belew private msg quote post Address this user
My son and I are headed to the movies - Jurassic World!

For some quality downtime.

I feel like I have been fighting the dinosaur all week... maybe tonight, I'll win one ... or not.

What's the last movie you saw? How was it?

@Steve The missus and I have completely different tastes.

Even we go... she heads to theater room 1 and I go to 15 and we meet afterward. No fun!

Does the movies coming to us count?
The Wizard of Oz. I make too many references to it and she doesn't know what I'm talking about.

Love and Mercy. An interesting re-telling of the Beach Boys. MY wife and go to shows often. It's fun and it gets our minds off of work challenges.

I would have been 4 or 5 years old, when we got our first TV -- called them "TV sets" then (see George Carlin on this point) -- and my first memory of watching (besides that wonderful test pattern with the Indian chief in one section and a buffalo in another) was Saturday Night at the Movies. The family got together in the "TV room" to watch.

The first movie I remember seeing was The Day The Earth Stood Still (the original 1951 black and white version of course) and it probably changed me forever. It certainly set me on a path of appreciating Sci-Fi.

The Wizard Of Oz was a staple for us growing up. I never saw it in the theater but dis watch it every year when it came out on TV. And here I am today in Kansas.

Our local theater has 20 screens and several 1000+ parking spaces.

We could get tickete but we couldn't park. Never seen the place so crowded before.

We went to another movie theater. There was room but instead of the 845 evening flick... we ended up at the 1105pm showing!

I can't remember staying awake that late!

It took a Dinosaur eating some guy to wake me up.

Movies are raking it in. That's pretty good content marketing. Storytelling, word of mouth, UGC, and and...

Hmmmm... it seems to me I saw somewhere some correlative research about when movies do well, the economy isn't. Anyone?

@Rev

If you are right the economy is headed for the tank.

Movies are killing it these days.
