Question for those who publish on Linkedin928

Member dmortaz private msg quote post Address this user
Hi folks,

Bill always recommended that we use links to our OWN content when writing with WordPress, so I wonder if you practice the same with your Linkedin posts. Do you insert links to your other LINKEDin posts in your articles? These are links that don't cause them to leave Linkedin.

One of my most well trafficed article was on the topic of pitching to VCs and Angels and I want to write more about similar topics, but use a link back to the original post.

Has this technique been effective with your Linkedin posts?

Yes. I think it is good form to link internally to your other LinkedIn posts to keep them in your network of LI posts and on your profile.

It is also good form to include external links to your other stuff and other quality sites that are relevant.

The same basic principles of SEO work within LinkedIn as they do elsewhere.

A problem is that you can't really see how it performs.

LI provides some history of views to an article, but not much else.

@Belew We have been sharing content that has published first on our site. I have never thought about internally linking to other LinkedIn posts we have published. It a fantastic idea, if as you mentioned there is a combination internal archival links, and some nice referral links pointing back to the original source, we have systems in place that attribute traffic from redirects very well. I like to follow a 3-1 rule- 3 thought leadership posts for every 1 promotional one.

Sometimes it depends on the articles whether to post a link in it.

I repurpose stuff from my site to LI... and it worked very well for quite some time. Then something at LI changed and the reach dropped dramatically.

I have a theory as to why ... I will share later when I am more certain.

I think, earlier, LI's reach included your groups but now, it's only limited to first degree. Is that correct?

LinkedIn doesn't say.

We are left to wonder why yet another site owner is not transparent.

We do know that the reach dropped dramatically.

Could it be that they found a potential source of revenue?

If you want more reach for your articles just pay this premium.

It's always a problem to build a platform on somebody else's site.

This is yet another example.

@pushpanc No it is not your first level connections, it is only some of them ... as more and more people like your post so more and more are exposed.

As @Belew mentioned, the reach dropped off dramatically, I used to publish daily on LinkedIn, not anymore... the return is not worth the effort.

@belew, are u publishing daily to Linkedin? It sounds like Steve is not happy with his results anymore.

My own profile views and ranking are improving with both postings and 3rd party content curation to LInkedin groups.

This is the breakdown of the views on Linkedin:

63% LinkedIn Pulse
25% LinkedIn Profile
13% LinkedIn.com

Just today I got invited by LinkedIn to their office in San Francisco. They have invited some local Bay Area long-form publishers.

I will be there next Thursday evening. Got questions for LinkedIn that I can pass on?

I stopped publishing on LI daily a while back.

Something changed and the reads dropped way off.

I did nothing but all of a sudden eyeballs dropped way off.

I aim to ask them next week when I am at LI Hq.

From what I understand - when you publish on LI, they are not searchable on the web, so it's not duplicatable content. If you post on your blog, just change the title and and bit of the content and re-post it on LI. This way, you aren't re-creating content.

This would be one question about if this is true or not.

@MLHarris

LinkedIn is its own ecosystem. No worries abt republished content from your blog.

I aim to ask abt this next week.
