How Many Twitter Followers Do Your Fans Have934

Belew private msg quote post Address this user
I wrote a series of articles for an online journal that got pretty good reads.

The articles also got some good Twitter action ... depending on what you think is good, I suppose.

One article was Tweeted out 600+ times.

I went to ALL 600 accounts and on an excel spread sheet (remember those) listed up the number of followers EACH of those who tweeted my article had. I wanted to get an idea of the potential reach of my article in terms of eyeballs, followers that sort of thing.

The average reader of this journal had about 4,000 followers.

600 tweets = 2,400,000 potential pairs of eyeballs ... in the search engine space.

I wonder, has anyone else done a study of how many followers their average follower has on Twitter?

Wanna share?

Here's a previous thread on LinkedIn and the reach of connections.

It is clear from that link that all connections are not equal.

I wonder if the same is true with Twitter.

@Belew - of course, I've definitely thought about this as well.

It's the same with guest posting on different sites having that "your results may vary" effect..

..and overall for SEO in terms of link juice.

"Stuff rolls downhill," as they say!

It's not about who you know.

It's not about who knows you.

It's all about who knows the people who know you.

You need to hang out with @Steve more ...

He works Twitter hard ... and now Twitter works hard for him.

I've been working his strategy ... I get about 100-150 new legitimate followers each day. I can see them click thru to my site ... to the forum here ... and some of them are joining in here.

That's good stuff all around.

@lunar_ranger @Steve is suffering through a major hack.

He'll be back. Like the Terminator.

How did you find me through him? If I may ask? How did that happen?

@Steve

The point of my question is that your reach far exceeds what you can possibly imagine, eh?

@Belew following along now ... my reach is currently over 7.28 million impressions per 28 days ...

Love the stats twitter gives everyone, and those aren't potential but actual ... the potential would be mind blowing...

@Steve

It hasn't been 28 days since I put my head down and started pounding on Twitter. But I got 3000 new followers in the 1st 2 weeks.

At this pace I will have 50K by the end of the year.

Do you have stats on your growth? From 10K to 20K to 30K etc and how long it took?

Did you get runclick figured out? Ppl are asking me here in SV when that is going to happen.

@tienny

How many followers do those followers have? Go to abt 20 of them, add them up and get an average. Then multiply by 314.

Mostly __K some is hundreds.

130.6K + 124.1K + 260 + 135.8K + 49.1K +
128.5K + 23K + 7,013 + 287 + 42.7K +
105.6K + 910.4K + 30.4K + 11.9K + 25.7K +
15.7K + 34.5K + 15.1K + 621 + 66.5K
= 18,297,181 / 20
= 914,859.05 * 314
= 2.872657e+8

@Steve How effectively are you able to steer your follower to content on your site?

Let me start by saying that the only reason I generate results from Twitter is because I engage with my audience and try and develop relationships with them.

I engage my audience by having a wealth of content rich articles that I share with them, answer questions on and that interest them ...

Currently I have just under 150K followers and I generate around 12k visitors per month to my site from them ...

@Steve How do you engage? Do you read their feeds?

@tienny I read those timelines I like, but I ask questions, answer questions ... etc... there is nothing like a leading question to boast engagement... and of course my content engages...

@Steve How long do you spend following others' tweets? Because I have been following others' wordpress posts and Facebook timeline. But I do not have enough time following other sites. How to keep up? I also need to spend time with my family and do my work.

The people I want to follow I add to a list, these are the people I follow ... three or four times a week ... I will check my feed once or twice a day... and see if anything interests me ...

All in all I probably spend 30-60 mins on Twitter each day ... five to ten mins of FaceBook, same with LinkedIn ... and maybe a minute or two of Google Plus.

I check Google Analytic daily ...

Write content daily ... even while I was dealing with being hacked over the weekend, content was still going out...

It's all easy to do, when you don't sleep ...
