When Friends / Workers Go Weird on You988

Belew private msg quote post Address this user
How do you handle when friends go all weird on you?

Seriously. Very normal guy. Golfing buddy. Gave him some work to do.

Then out of the blue he went all weird on me.

Accusations and misinformation and dragging non-relevant people in and, and ...

How do you handle it when your friends ... and workers go all weird on you?

@Belew

I suggest that in the US business culture, doing business with friends is a risk. Doing business with an acquaintance is lower risk.

Good luck.

@Jonnner

As old as I am I never learned from the wisdom of "Never do business with friends and family."

@Belew - there's no such thing as "it's not personal; it's 'just' business" -

There's no 'just' business - it's ALL personal.

When I do business with someone, it's a relationship - different from a friendship, but it's still a relationship.

You never know what's happening in someone's world. I write a bit about this Rashomon effect in life.

Sure, we can all be friends and happy when things are going well - but the military showed why I want to surround myself with those who have my back when the @&%* hits the fan.

I love Oprah's quote of Maya Angelou "when people show you who they are, believe them"!

Try this. Ask the following question:

"What is your intention?"

You'll quickly get past the posturing, defensiveness, etc., and find out what's driving the behavior.

Just to add onto what @dono2081 said, just talking to them about it can make the world of a difference, get everything out in the open. Maybe something has to change in your relationship or, who knows, he could just be having a bad day. Good luck!

What @dono2081 and @Tashagabrielle said...

You have control over exactly one person in your life. Yourself.
Ask questions, What did I do to cause this to happen?
What is going on in that person's life to cause it to happen?
